Diana Vickers
F*M*A*D recently caught up with the UK’s newest pop darling Diana Vickers. To talk about music, love, life after the X-factor and of course fashion!
How do you think you have grown as an artist since your time on the X-factor?
The year out I took between X Factor and releasing my album allowed me time to try theatre, improve my voice and gain confidence as a performer.
You’ve played at quite a few gigs this summer, do you get to choose your own stage outfits?
I have help from my wonderful stylist, Alison. We decide together and it’s really important to me as I have to feel great on stage
When you have free time, what are your three favourite things to do?
Go out with friends, go home and see my family and have a good rummage in vintage clothes shops!
I think every girl has a ‘favourite dress’ in their closet, the one that has been facebooked to death but they just can’t get rid of….. Do you have one? And if so where is it from?
Mine would have to be my rabbit dress by Peter Jensen.
Your new single “The boy who murdered love’ … you co-wrote it with Chris Braide. Would you say the song is based on a previous relationship?
It’s actually about several ex boyfriends who’ve broken my heart. It’s that feeling of being totally in love with someone and then they go and ruin it all.
When you’re on tour, what’s the one thing you can’t live without?
Deodorant because my band are all smelly boys
Do you have any style icons?
My style icons at the moment are Bridget Bardot, Marilyn Monroe and Kate Moss
What’s your favourite nail polish colour and why?
Anything dark as it makes me feel quite sexy and grungy or bright red for that striking, feminine look
Would you use find-me-a-dress.com for any of your future dress shopping dilemmas?
It’s a cool site and I’ll have to become a regular visitor!
